The Operations team is a strategic and operational organization with capabilities to respond to challenges across the global chemical and biological (C/B) landscape.
The Operations team, also known as the Chemical Biological Application and Risk Reduction (CBARR) Business Unit, delivers full lifecycle solutions for government, industry and international partners. Our capabilities have evolved over the last 40 years to respond to the global C/B landscape. Today, our team executes chemical munition recovery, remediation of formerly used defense sites, recovery and response to CBRN events, transportable laboratories, environmental analysis, and specialized chemical equipment fabrication and sustainment.
CBARR’s highly specialized and certified workforce of field-deployable scientists, engineers, technicians and operators have a level of expertise unmatched in the C/B recovery and remediation space. Our employees average 20+ years of service and are cross-trained to meet essential project needs. They are a part of the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program/Biological Personnel Reliability Program, which means they are certified to work with chemical and biological agents. They are also certified to work with explosives.

FIXED LABORATORY
- High-throughput (HT) labs providing CWA/BWA and inorganic chemical analysis
- Robotic-assisted HT sample analysis for biological agent screening
- Environmental remediation investigations; health/safety monitoring; demilitarization/ testing operations for chemical agents and TICs
DEPLOYABLE LABS
- Automated continuous monitoring systems provide near real-time detection
- Fully functional, mobile laboratories perform critical on-site analysis of air, water/and soil samples
- Capable of 24-hour operation
TRANSPORTABLE LABS
- Evaluate partner’s laboratory requirements and make recommendations on laboratory configuration.
- Fabricate a transportable laboratory, with chemical and/or biological analysis equipment to meet the requirements.
- Train civilian or military personnel on laboratory operations.
- Support development and periodic review of standing operating procedures, and tactics, techniques, and procedures.
- Recommend and document sustainment protocols.
- Establish a proficiency management cycle.
- Support planning an operational response approach for standard and emergency scenarios.
