Engineering Directorate

U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Chemical Biological Center (DEVCOM Chemical Biological Center) Engineering Directorate supports the U.S. Army and the U.S. Chemical and Biological Defense Program with engineering expertise at every stage of the acquisition life cycle.

The directorate specializes in engineering, technical and acquisition capabilities that bring solutions from concept to development—through design, prototyping, and experimentation, to full-service CB testing, to fielding, training and sustainment.

The team is comprised of nearly 500 engineers, scientists, technicians and acquisition professionals with an unmatched depth of expertise and institutional knowledge in protection, detection and decontamination systems and materiel. The directorate deploys nearly 200 systems engineers and acquisition program specialists in direct support of the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense (JPEO CBD) and its Joint Program Managers, as well as U.S. Army Maneuver Support Center of Excellence (MSCoE), U.S. Army Chemical Materials Activity (CMA) and other partners.

The directorate operates several unique laboratories and facilities, including an all-inclusive CBRNE Product Development Facility and MakerSpace, and the only surety chamber in the world that allows entire systems to be immersed and tested against emerging threats.

In addition, DEVCOM Chemical Biological Center serves as the Engineering Support Activity (ESA) for all U.S. Army TACOM-managed CB defense equipment.
