DEVCOM CBC – 2024 Year in Review
Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD — In the DEVCOM Chemical Biological Center’s 2024 Year in Review, you will read about our various accomplishments that help ensure Soldier readiness and lethality by protecting them from chemical and biological threats. Our numerous accomplishments include:
- Cutting the ribbon to open the Center’s newly renovated and expanded Biomanufacturing Pilot Facility
- Helping the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) plan and execute an in-the-field user assessment of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear technology in an event called Chemical and Biological Operational Analysis
- Expanding the capabilities of the Center’s Chemical Biological Application and Risk Reduction Business Unit, otherwise known as CBARR, through its mission as the Capability Developer for the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Defense Programs, Threat Reduction and Arms Control (OASD (NCB/TRAC)) Chemical and Biological Weapons Elimination (CBWE) Directorate
- Maintaining the operational lifecycle of equipment to ensure the most state-of-the-art CBRN defense tools are getting into the hands of our Soldiers
- Testing collective capabilities to determine if military working dogs can detect trace levels of explosives
- Paving the way and helping the Army transform into a multi-domain force through its modernization and priority research efforts
The In-house Laboratory Independent Research program identifies and funds innovative basic research projects that are high-risk but have high potential payoff for fulfilling future Army capability needs. These documents provide program highlights, as well as manuscripts from each of the funded projects that year.
