THE FUTURE.

The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Chemical Biological Center (DEVCOM Chemical Biological Center) STEM and Educational Outreach Program offers a wide array of immersive educational activities in an effort to inspire students to pursue STEM career pathways. Utilizing evidence-based teaching strategies, DEVCOM Chemical Biological Center’s STEM programs actively engage students to enhance learning for all demographics. As advisors, guest-speakers, mentors, project judges and scientists in the classroom, our talented workforce invigorates STEM education in their local communities and beyond.

LOCAL STEM PROGRAMS

The Chemical Biological Center offers both virtual “video-chat” lessons and in-classroom hands-on activities for elementary grade levels on a variety of STEM topics. All lessons have been aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards and complement existing science curricula while highlighting real-world applications of STEM.​

If you’re an educator in the communities surrounding Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD (Harford & Cecil Counties), you can request a virtual or in-person STEM lesson for your classroom. There is no cost associated with any of our local STEM/Outreach programs.

U.S. ARMY EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH PROGRAM (AEOP)

The Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP) provides a portfolio of Army educational opportunities in STEM for the future generations of America’s workforce and teachers. The AEOP is composed of:​

From elementary school through graduate school, students of all proficiency levels, interests, social and economic backgrounds are encouraged to participate in real-world STEM experiences involving these important disciplines while also engaging with Army-sponsored mentors.​

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES.

The Chemical Biological Center (CBC) participates in the Army Educational Outreach Program’s (AEOP) Undergraduate Apprenticeship. Offered each Summer for 8 weeks, this program matches practicing CBC scientists and engineers with STEM-focused students. The direct mentor-student relationship provides an unparalleled experience as students perform research and development projects on-site at our Edgewood, MD facilities.

The application window opens each year in mid-December for the summer program. Fall, winter, and spring apprenticeships may also be available. Check the website below for the most up-to-date information.
